ATHLETIC have made their 10th summer signing by recruiting former Falkirk winger Myles Hippolyte.

The 23-year-old, who joined St Mirren in January, has this morning completed a move to East End Park on a two-year deal and follows the loan capture of fans' favourite Faissal El Bakhtaoui ahead of last night's friendly with Motherwell.

The deal for Hippolyte is likely to fuel debate amongst Pars supporters following his role in a controversial defeat to the Bairns last year.

The game, which took place towards the end of the 2016/17 campaign, saw Allan Johnston's team lead before their bitter rivals hit back with a hotly disputed leveller.

Referee Gavin Duncan awarded a penalty after Hippolyte went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Sean Murdoch, a decision that enraged the Pars players and supporters.

Falkirk went on to win 2-1 but Hippolyte bore the brunt of post-match frustration, with then captain Andy Geggan calling for retrospective action to be taken.

That did happen, with the former Brentford winger accepting a two-game ban from the Scottish Football Association for simulation, but now he will attempt to win the Dunfermline fans over during his time as an Athletic player.

London-born Hippolyte, who began his career with Brentford, first arrived in Scotland with Livingston in 2014 and spent a season-and-a-half with the Lions.

He signed for Falkirk in January 2016 before moving to St Mirren in January.

We will have more on this story and an interview with Hippolyte in next week's Press Sport.
