DUNFERMLINE football star Caroline Weir is ready for one of the biggest games in her international career as Scotland aim for the World Cup tonight (Thursday).

The Manchester City midfielder is in line to win her 53rd cap at the age of just 23 when Shelley Kerr’s side lock horns with Switzerland in a crucial qualifier against Switzerland in Paisley.

Weir, who played in all three matches, and scored a winning goal against Spain, when the Scots played in their first major finals at last summer’s European Championships, is aiming to help Scotland to reach their maiden World Cup in France next year.

Scotland trail the Swiss, who beat them 1-0 in April, by three points but a two-goal win, followed by three points in their final match with Albania on Tuesday, would be enough to take them through as group winners.

The game at St Mirren’s Simple Digital Arena kicks off at 7.35pm.
