ROSYTH SHARKS are aiming high as they prepare to kick off their new season with a trip to Bannockburn this Saturday.

The Harley Street outfit open their Caledonia Midlands Region League Division Three campaign with optimism after a good pre-season and end to the previous campaign.

They achieved their goal of finishing in the top half of the table last term, picking up more wins than they did in the previous campaign, and their head coach, Mark Love, has targeted at top three finish this time around.

"We're keen to get started and start from where we left off last season, because we finished where we were aiming for, in the top half of the table," he told Press Sport.

"We got more wins than what we did the previous season, and I think there was only two, three games out the course of the whole season where we didn't pick up any points, whether that was a losing bonus or a try bonus. We're looking to take that forward this season and looking to finish higher in the league.

"We've had a couple of new faces in as well so we're getting them into how we want to play and bolster the squad.

"As usual, you lose a couple through age and maybe trying to move elsewhere because, at the level we're at, there's some people who've developed to a point where they want to go higher. I suppose, a club at our level, that's what we're for. If you've got players who are capable of playing at a higher level, you don't want to stop them moving on.

"Looking at who's in the league this year, there's nobody to fear. I'm aiming top three this year and I think, if the guys apply themselves and follow the structure we've been working on, it's definitely achievable."

Kick-off for the game at Bannockburn's Bluebellwood Park is 3pm.
