A WEST FIFE endurance running group have been enjoying success with strong performances and high attendences at local races.

Pitreavie AAC's PAACE running group recently fielded 42 competitors across the Kirkcaldy Parks Trail Race and Half Marathon, where they claimed a double victory.

Graeme Downie (32 minutes and 15 seconds) placed first overall in the former, whilst Karyn Stewart (40:36) was the first female finisher, closely followed by Gemma Chalmers (40:57), who was the second.

James Squires (34:44) was fourth; Iain Howatt (36:51) placed eighth; and Anne Halley Ben Shabat (43:19), and Tina Vandermotten (50:00) were first and second in the F60 age group respectively.

Pam Pattison took first place in the F70 category in the half marathon in a time of two hours, three minutes and three seconds; whilst Ben Fraser (1:20.56), Sean Walker (1:21.15), and Axel Amman (1:22.18) placed 12th, 13th and 14th overall.

David Henderson was the fourth M40 finisher (1:22.54), with Chrissie Maitland (1:33.39) the fourth senior female athlete to finish.

Over the same weekend, fine racing from PAACE members at the Perth 10k, which saw Morna Fleming finish as the first F70 runner in one hour, one minute and 19 seconds, and Rebecca Burns (37:04) finished as the second senior female.

Elsewhere, at the Tom Rob Memorial Trail Race in the Carron Valley, featuring a challenging 900 foot elevation over seven miles, Sean Walker took third place in 45:01.
