Garnock 57 Dunfermline 0, National League Division Four

DUNFERMLINE Rugby Club's men's first XV suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday at runaway league leaders Garnock.

Gavin Emerson's side travelled to Ayrshire in hope of bouncing back from a 64-31 reverse at home to Strathmore, but were well beaten by their opponents.

The visitors had lost the reverse fixture 46-14 at McKane Park in November, but they couldn't make a mark on the scoreboard in the return as Garnock made it 15 wins from 15 matches.

Dunfermline found themselves 40 points down at the break after conceding six tries, five of which were converted, before three more scores, one of which was successfully converted, completed the scoring.

Emerson's team are next in action on Saturday March 9, at home to Perthshire.

In Caledonia Midlands Region League Division Two, the picture wasn't any brighter for Dunfermline's second XV as they went down 59-5 to Aberfeldy, leaving them bottom of the table with nine losses from nine games.

They're not due to return to action until March 23, with an away fixture at Madras.

On Sunday, the club's women's side travelled south to Wigtownshire for their latest National Shield fixture, but were beaten by an 88-0 scoreline.

They are next due to host Broughton on March 10.
