Rosyth Sharks 26 Bo'ness 0, Caledonia Midlands Region League Division Three

ROSYTH SHARKS warmed up for a Caledonia Midlands Bowl quarter-final next weekend with a win over Bo'ness on league duty on Saturday.

The Harley Street outfit scored four tries and 26 unanswered points to consolidate third place in Caledonia Midlands Region League Division Three.

Dundee Uni Medics will visit Rosyth on Saturday March 2 in the bowl competition and, although disappointed not to score more points, Sharks head coach, Mark Love, was content with his side's victory ahead of that match.

"Although we got the win, it was disappointing that we didn't get more," he said.

"Bo'ness did defend well and put us under pressure. We didn't play a complete team game to control the game better, and subsequently left a good four or five tries out there.

"The structure we have been working on was evident in places and got us in good attacking positions. We just failed to put it together phase after phase, and this allowed Bo'ness to stay in the game.

"We scored three tries and two conversions in the first half, and one converted try in the second. The conditions in the second half did worsen with the rain coming on, and the ground already wet underfoot, which wasn't conducive to the type of rugby we have been playing, resulting in a number of handling errors.

"We just didn't adapt well enough to the conditions to maintain the sort of pressure we are looking for."

He added: "We have a break from the league next week with a bowl quarter-final fixture at home to Dundee Uni Medics. We're looking for a more focused performance to hopefully progress in the competition.

"Then, at the end of March, we have our final league fixture away to Strathmore, which is a must-win if we want to secure third spot."
