ABERDOUR Shinty Club have been kitted out for the new season thanks to the backing of a global firm with deep connections to the club.

Players and coaches with the team are looking the part in new polo shirts, sweatshirts, tracksuit bottoms, kit bags, subs jackets and coaching kits thanks to the continued backing of Abbott Risk Consulting Ltd (ARC).

The firm, which is headquarted in Edinburgh and now employs more than 160 people throughout the UK and Australia, was founded in 2002 by John Abbott, whose sons, Tom and Alistair, have played with the club from a young age.

Tom, 25, played his first senior match at the age of 15, whilst Alistair, 22, did so when he was 12, and have both gone on to play at youth level for the South of Scotland and for England.

Since John, who was presented with presentation sticks, and shinty ball adorning his firm's logo, launched ARC, it has supported the shinty club, previously sponsoring the women's team for several seasons, the men's second team, training kit in 2017, and match balls on numerous occasions.

Lisa MacColl, founder and head coach of Aberdour Shinty Club, said: "We’re proud of what we’ve managed to achieve here at Aberdour Shinty Club.

"We wouldn’t have been able to do it without the support of our volunteers and partners and ARC has consistently been there for us over the years. Now an established club and not just new kids on the block, we are keen to re-establish our identity and create cohesion.

"The generous provision by ARC of a full set of training kit for each player for match day means that the squad looks the part, and we hope this will be reflected on the park."
