DUNFERMLINE Athletic Ladies produced a stirring second half fightback on Sunday to claim a "fantastic point" against SWFL (Scottish Women's Football League) East leaders Armadale Thistle.

The teams were meeting for the second successive weekend, with the Pars having lost 2-0 away from home prior to their latest encounter, and they claimed a fine draw against their unbeaten opponents.

Having gone two goals behind by half-time, Alex Davie's brace gave Athletic a share of the spoils, and assistant manager, Gregg McSwiggan, praised their determination - but felt they could've taken all three points.

"It was a fantastic point in the end, against the league leaders," he said.

"It goes without saying, to take anything off a team that's gone the whole season unbeaten, it says a lot about the players and their fight and their determination.

"It was just disappointing we didn't have that for the 90 minutes. The first half we didn't play our normal game for some reason - the ball was up in the air more times than we would've liked.

"We like to work on getting the ball down and playing and, unfortunately in the first half, we didn't do that.

"We were static at two set pieces which let us down going in at the break, so we had a wee chat with the ladies at half-time, and it was absolutely fantastic to come back out the way they did.

"It was a totally different approach in the second half and that tells in the result at the end.

"It was fantastic to get the point, but it was just disappointing that the first half wasn't up to the usual standard because, based on the second half, if we'd done that for 90 minutes, we could've got all three.

"But, again, it shows the progression of the team. It shows how well they've done and it shows how keen they are, and eager they are, to take on instruction and really get their heads down on focus on what we're trying to tell them as a coaching team.

"We're really happy to take a point from the game. Disappointed for the ladies that they switched off at crucial times in the first half, because they could've got more, but they know that themselves. They don't need us to go back over it.

"It's another positive as we look forward to Murieston at home on Sunday."
