PITREAVIE athletes returned from the Scottish National Indoor Age Group Championships with medals – and three of them were gold.

The under-13, under-15 and under-20 age groups all competed at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Pitreavie’s golds all came in the under-20s, with twins Lewis and Ben McGuire winning the high jump and long jump respectively, and Dylan Thompson on top in the pole vault.

Lewis cleared an impressive 2.06 metres on the way to his title, while Ben set a new championship record with his leap of 7.10m. Thompson cleared 3.22m to win his gold medal.

There was another medal in the pole vault, this time bronze, as Alana Dunsmore cleared 3.02m in the women’s competition, while Bethany McAndrew also picked up a bronze in the 60m hurdles in 9.31 seconds.

James Adam reached the final of the 800m, finishing seventh, and Niamh Guest was fifth in the 60m hurdles final.

In the under-15 age group, Pitreavie sprinter Billy Doyle picked up two medals. He was third in the 200m in 24.68 and second in the 300m in 38.93.

Ben Knowles took bronze in the triple jump with 9.44m, Cameron Keelan collected a silver in the 60m hurdles, recording an impressive time of 9.23, and Erin Graham cleared 1.55m in the high jump to secure a bronze.

Other finalists in this age group included Lewis Dow, fourth in the 1500m; Jemma Jamieson, seventh in the 1500m; and Sarah Coutts, who won her 800m race – but as the final was split into two sections, she missed out on a medal as four athletes in the second race were faster.

Ailsa Marsh also made two finals. She was seventh in the 60m and sixth in the 200m, a race won by Dunfermline Track & Field athlete Jade Hutchison in 25.42, just 0.01 of a second outside the championship best.

In the under-13s, Ross Birrell just missed out on a double medal success. He finished third in the 60m in a new personal best of 8.53 to take the bronze but couldn’t quite repeat that feat in the 200m, finishing just outside the medals in fourth.

Campbell Dowie collected bronze in the 800m, finishing in 2:27.63, while Louise Conway finished 10th in the girls’ high jump final.
