Carnegie Harriers have been on form, home and away, with Barry Davie and Karen Forsyth completing the 3k on the Green in Glasgow, finishing in 11:43 and 14:37 respectively.

In the Czech Republic, Joanna Murphy and Kristin Lownie enjoyed terrific runs at the Prague half marathon, with personal best times of 1:23.54 and 1:26.47 respectively, setting them up for the London Marathon later this month.

And on German soil, Jonathan Millar also set a PB at the Berlin half marathon, running 1:27.52.

Back in Scotland, the Harriers managed to field two teams for the National Road Relays in Livingston.

The senior men’s team saw Mark Mackenzie (V) run the 3.1 mile leg in 20:45, Joe Donnelly completed the 5.8 mile leg in 37:53, then Paul Kieran (V) did the 3.1 mile section in 17:45.

On the longer leg, Barry Davie (V) clocked 38:49, Alan Murray (V) ran 22:27 for the shorter section and Steven King (V) did the anchor leg in 35:35.

This team finished in 43rd place in the open class in a total time of 2:53.14.

The Over-50 team, running only four legs, saw John O’Connor posting 21:00, John Hynd 35;24; Malcolm Smith 23:05 and Ian Johnston 38:43, to finish seventh in the class in a total time of 1:58.12.

Karen Kennedy was the first of the Harriers home in the Tay Ten in Perth, finishing 30th in 1:08.16, with Billy McNeil 33rd and first V60+ in 33rd place and Mark Western 34th in 1:09.27.

Michael Bisset set a PB of 1:13.08 in 49th place, with Michelle Best 58th in 1:14.43, and Morna Fleming first F60+ in 1:21.14.

Kennedy, Best and Fleming were also awarded first ladies team prize.

Karen Forsyth finished fourth in 25:31 in the West Lothian Easter 5k, and on the following Wednesday she and Barry Davie ran the Great Run Local 5k on Glasgow Quayside, finishing fifth in 20:27 and 35th in 25:17 respectively.

At the weekend, nine Harriers travelled to Manchester for the big spring marathon and were led in by Andrew Smith in 3:07.56, followed by Alan McGowan in 3:21.13 and Mark Mackenzie with a PB of 3:29.20. Avril O’Donnell and Paul Foster ran together in 3:45.06, while Scott Love finished in 4:11.43, Dave Morton in 4:23.37, Karl Zaczek in 4:24.09 and William Scott in 5:19.46.

The Summer Grand Prix kicked off with the Round the Houses 10k race in Grangemouth.

Paul Kieran was well clear of his clubmates, posting a 41st place finish in a PB of 34:56. Steven King ran 37:98 and there were PBs for John Fulham in 37:56, Chris Stephenson in 38:31 and Jonathan Millar in 39:05.

Alan Cockburn ran 39:54 and Mary Western was the first of the ladies, awarded first F50+ in 39:55.

Ian Johnston ran 40:10 and Mark Western 41:10. Billy McNeil finished third V60+ in 41:50, Barry Davie 42:55, Allan Brannigan 43:09, Kieran Morgan 43:31, Michael Bisset 43:37, Michelle Best in 45:32, Charlotte Briggs 45:59, Robert Milton 46:30, Malcolm Smith 47:42, Melanie Sinclair 50:37, Karen Forsyth 51:57, Zuleika Brett 53:33 and Bill Fairley finished third V70+ in 1:00.39.

Earlier that day, three Harriers ran the Tom Scott Memorial 10 mile road race, incorporating the Scottish Athletics 10 mile Championship, where John Hynd set a fine PB of 1:00.40 for 63rd place. Karen Kennedy also set a PB of 1:05.39 and Morna Fleming finished 2nd F60+ in 1:18.04.
