PITREAVIE AAC maintained their push for promotion from Scottish Men’s League Division Two following some fine performances in the latest match at Aberdeen.

They finished in third place on the day and currently sit second in the table, although there’s very little between them and third-placed Inverclyde.

Pole vaulter Dylan Thomson got the team off to a good start, claiming second place with a clearance of 3.60 metres.

Lewis McGuire did even better, winning the high jump with a 2.00m clearance, while Craig Dunlop added further points with a second-place finish in the B event, setting a personal best of 1.60m. Lewis was also involved in the long jump, taking third place with 5.74m.

On the track, Kyle Henderson produced a gutsy performance to finish third in the 400m hurdles in 64.48 seconds, taking four seconds off his previous best.

Ben Potrykus was second in the 800m in a time of 1:56.46 and also claimed second place in the 400m B race in a personal best of 51.77. Ben Grant was runner-up in the 400m A race in 51.81.

In the 3000m steeplechase, team manager Colin Lamont was second in a personal best of 11:27.58, while Kyle Henderson returned to the track for the B race, finishing first in 12:40.82 – his first attempt at this distance.

Pitreavie’s best performers in the relays were the 4x400m team, with the quartet of Ben Potrykus, Ben Grant, Alex Johnston and Tyler White taking third place in 3:47.67.

A number of Pitreavie athletes secured top-three places in their events at the Scottish Women’s League meeting at Scotstoun.

Under-15 athlete Jennifer Brydon took second place in the high jump with a clearance of 1.45 metres and also managed third place in the 75m hurdles B race in a time of 13.32 seconds.

Sarah Duff, competing in the same age group, also secured a couple of top-three places – she was third in the 100m in 13.60 and second in the 200m B race in 28.01.

Skye Marshall secured second place in the under-15 high jump B event with a clearance of 1.40m. Emilija Morrison was third in the under-17 200m B race in 28.43, as was Abbie Chisholm in the under-13 age group, with her time being 30.61.

In the under-13 70m hurdles, Louise Conway took second place in the main race in 12.14, while Naomi McHardy was third in the B race in 13.52.

More success came in the under-17 80m hurdles. Connie Booth was second in the A race in 13.18, while Rachel Thomson was the team’s only winner on the day, taking the B race in 13.43. Leah Davie claimed third place in the senior women’s 400m hurdles in 78.29.

Also in the seniors, Erin Graham took third place in the high jump, with a clearance of 1.50m; Kara Bradbeer was second in the pole vault with 3.20m; and Bethany McAndrew was third in the long jump with 4.91m.

In the relays, the best performing sides were the under-17 4x100m team, who took second place in 53.18; and the under-13 4x100m team, who finished third in 56.30.
