PITREAVIE AAC star Eilidh Doyle is out to prove she's still Europe's best 400m hurdler tonight - despite choosing not to defend her continental title.
The 29-year-old was celebrating on Sunday as she won 4x400m relay gold at the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam and will be back in action at this evening's Diamond League meeting in Monaco.
There she will come up against her successor as European champion, Dane Sara Petersen, who took full advantage of Doyle's decision not to race in the 400m hurdles.
Doyle will be the top ranked athlete in the field at the Stade Louis II as she continues her preparations for next month's Olympic Games.
She secured her place in the Team GB squad for the 400m hurdles by retaining her British Championship title in Birmingham last month, while a bronze medal at last May's World Relay Championships saw her confirmed in the 4x400m squad.
Doyle is currently second in this year's Diamond League series with five events remaining after this evening's meet.
