THE wet weather wreaked havoc with the West Fife cricket card on Saturday with Broomhall the only team to bat a ball in anger.
Promotion-chasing Dunfermline and Carnegie’s Division Four clash with Freuchie seconds at McKane Park, and the Division Seven derby between Broomhall seconds and Dunfermline and Carnegie’s second string were called off.
That meant Broomhall were the sole survivors as their Division Three against Marchmont seconds at Cavalry Park in the capital beat the weather but unfortunately for relegation-fighting ‘Hall they were soundly beaten.

Having been boosted by a hard-fought win over Murrayfield DAFS second XI in their last outing at Charlestown, Broomhall were put into bat by the hosts and found the going tough, with 17 runs apiece from Doherty and James being their highest scores.

After the wicket of James fell with 50 runs on the board, six more went for the addition of 59 runs to leave the West Fifers all out for 109 from 39.5 overs.
Although Broomhall took the wicket of Marchmont opener Singh for 14 runs, an excellent 84-run partnership between Ramachandra and Chetty led the hosts to an emphatic eight-wicket victory to leave Broomhall deep in relegation trouble.
Broomhall (3): 109 all out in 39.5 overs, (S Clayton 5 for 12, S Kenganahalli Matt 3 for 18).
Marchmont seconds (20): 110 for 2 in 25 overs (H Ramachandra 52*, N Chetty 32).
