DUNFERMLINE Track and Field Athletics Club have won gold at the National Relay Championships in Aberdeen and narrowly missed out on bronze.
The boys’ under-15 team came first in the 4x300 metres in a time of 2:42.14, ranking them first in Scotland and fourth in the UK.
The team – comprising Aidan O’Hara, Gregor Campbell, Nana Akuoko and Cameron Marshall – ran an outstanding race that ended in a close finish with 0.74 of a second between them and runners-up Aberdeen AC.
The under-15 girls’ team narrowly missed out on a bronze at the Championships. The girls – Aislynn Crichton, Holly Smith, Erin Hodgson and Eve Rennie – ran the fantastic time of 3:05.93; only one-and-a-half seconds away from third place.
Dunfermline Track and Field sprint coach Mark Smith thinks that the girls have a bright future and told Press Sport: “Three of the girls are first-year under-15 so this bodes well for next year. It was a really good run from all the girls. They really gave all they had.”
