A MUCH depleted Pitreavie AAC team failed to make much impact in the Scottish final of the Youth Development League (Lower).

However, there were still some impressive individual performances from athletes who did make the trip to Grangemouth.

Holidays, injuries and other commitments meant only a small team represented the club, and with so many events not featuring any Pitreavie athletes, there was no realistic chance of competing for the league title against the larger city clubs.

While team success wasn't on the cards, it was still a day to remember for under-13 athlete Conor Gourley, who was victorious in the 1500m.

He ran a perfect race to finish in 4:53.72, well ahead of the rest of the field, and the only competitor to break the five-minute mark.

Also in the boys' under-13 age group, Kyle McFarlane produced a fine run to take third place in the 800m in 2:28.23.

At under-15 level, Cameron Keelan took second place in the 80m hurdles in 12.13s, and Lewis Blair did likewise in the 800m 'B' race, finishing in 2:18.08.

Lewis Dow was third in the 1500m in 4:34.57, and there was also a third place for Conor Allan in the discus, with a throw of 24.38m.

For the girls, under-13 sprinter Louise Conway was the club's top performer.

She took second place in the 75m in 10.45s, and was third in the 70m hurdles in 11.96s, while Dani Mauchlen was second in the 70m hurdles 'B' race in 13.21s.

At under-15 level, Jennifer Brydon took third place in the 800m in 2:31.17, and Lynn Harvey was third in the pole vault with a clearance of 1.85m.
