PITREAVIE athlete Eilidh Doyle will compete in next month's World Championships after retaining her British Championship title yesterday.
The 30-year-old 400 metres hurdler raced to victory at the British Athletics Team Trials in Birmingham, securing her place in the Great Britain squad that will compete in London from August 4-13.
The top two in each event were assured selection provided they gained the qualifying standard time by midnight on July 9 and Doyle, fresh from victory at the European Team Championships, posted another convincing success.
After coasting through her heat in 56.34 seconds on Saturday - finishing 15 metres clear - Doyle started the final well and led to 200m.
Although Meghan Beesley tried to chase the Bath-based star down, Olympic 4x400m relay bronze medalist Doyle opened up a 10-metre advantage to cross in 55.59.
That sealed her passage to what will be a fifth World Championships, where she will hope to improve on her best performance of fifth at the 2013 event in Moscow.
