PITREAVIE AAC have become only the fifth club in Scotland to earn the scottishathletics Clubmark accolade.
Clubmark helps clubs meet a set of nationally recognised minimum operating standards, ensuring that they are 'fit for purpose". Clubs who achieve Clubmark will also be able to access a range of benefits to further assist their development including additional funding opportunities.
Presenting the award to Pitreavie, scottishathletics education and development manager Ewen Cameron said, 'Pitreavie fully deserve this award as they have clearly proven that they are a club with vision, ambition and a strong structure.
'It is clear that the club committee have fully committed to being one of the best managed clubs in Scotland and by achieving Clubmark have demonstrated high standards of practice in all areas of their operations.'
Pitreavie club chair, Shelagh Young, added, 'Pitreavie wants the best for all its athletes and supporters and achieving the Clubmark standards shows we offer that.
'Our best athletes are the ones who work hard in training and turn out repeatedly to compete for the club. They set high standards and deserve the best we can offer.'
The club was presented with the award on Friday and a cheque for £300 from SportTayside & Fife athletics development manager Alasdair Donaldson, who said, 'This financial reward is recognition of the hard work the volunteers on Pitreavie"s committee have put into achieving this award for the club; ensuring that it is well positioned to develop its athletes to the best of the club"s ability.
'Hopefully, this award can help Pitreavie AAC to achieve all the aims of their club development plan over the next four years.'
