Pitreavie athlete Young doubles up at East Districts

TOP performance in the East District Championships on the track for Pitreavie came from double medallist Anthony Young.
Young competed firstly in the under-17 men"s 400m where he again improved his lifetime best to a swift 49.23 to come second. He then went one better over 200m, winning the gold in a time of 22.51.
Kirsten Galbraith also picked up a silver medal in the under-15 girls" 100m with a time of 12.62. Another silver medal in the under-15 girls came from Michaela Brown, who was second in the 1500m in 5:02.95.
Lewis Hunter picked up a bronze medal in the under-15 boys" 400m with a time of 56.78.
Arguably the best event at the championships for the club was the under-15 girls" 75m hurdles, which took place on the much sunnier Sunday.
The club had three athletes in the final, two of which medalled with Naomi Fox winning silver in a time of 12.30 and Rose Fagan picking up the bronze in 12.49. The club"s third finalist, Sarah-Jane Easton was sixth in a time of 12.99.
Two of the club"s hammer throwers picked up the club"s two gold medals with Kirsty Wallace winning the under-15 girls" event with a throw of 34.84m and Ross McManus won the under-17 men"s event with 53.92m.
In the senior and under-20s inter-district championships Stacey Downie was a double winner in the sprints, firstly winning the 100m in a time of 12.37, following it up with the 200m win in a time of 24.77.
Stephanie Walker, on her first major outing of the season, ran well over the 400m hurdles to place second with 62.61.
Team captain Eilidh Child (left) took the 400m in a time of 56.55.
Throwing sisters Mhairi Porterfield and Kirsty Wilson picked up lots of points, Mhairi was second in the hammer with 54.29m, second in the shot putt with 12.44m and second in the discus with 36.25m.
Kirsty was first in the B hammer with 47.80m and was third in the B javelin with 24.17m.
Stuart Chisholm won the B pole vault with 2.60m.
Stacey Downie anchored the 4x100m team to a second place finish in a time of 49.74.
Lucy Crookston led off the 4x400m relay team that came third in a time of 3:59.42.
