PITREAVIE AAC’s under-15 athletes were the club’s top performers at the Scottish National Short Course Cross-Country Championships with both the boys’ and girls’ teams finishing in the top five.

The trio of Iona Crawford, Zoe Nicholson and Ciara Bowman, competing over a very muddy 2K course at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, finished in fifth place.

Iona was first home for the Pitreavie team, finishing in 11th place in 7 minutes 37 seconds, Zoe was 22nd in 7:56 and Ciara was 25th in 8:01.

The boys went one better, finishing in fourth place. James Adam was 11th in 6:46, just ahead of Ben Grant in 12th, who was given the same time. William Cain completed the scoring trio, finishing in 44th place in 7:27.

Also taking part were Dylan Thomson, 51st in 7:53; Liam Gillan, 64th in 9:04; and Alex Johnston, who unfortunately failed to finish due to injury.

Leah Davie was the club’s sole representative in the women’s under-17 race, completing the 3K course in an impressive 11:32 for ninth position against a strong field.

In the under-17 men’s race, Tyler White took 15th place in 10:19, Corey Smith was 44th in 11:25 and Andrew McNair 47th in 11:40, earning them 11th place in the team competition.

Two Pitreavie athletes took part in the senior women’s race, with Rebecca Burns finishing 14th in 15:00, and Amy McAlpine clocking 20:40.
