SIGN Plus Dunfermline Knights blundered their way to defeat in Saturday's East League Division One fixture with Watsonians seconds at McKane Park.

After an encouraging showing the week before against Holy Cross, Knights were back to allowing bad habits destroy their chances of victory.

Dropped catches in the field saw the visitors post a decent score but on a very good wicket the home side should have been able to chase down the target.

But when they went to the crease some wild shots saw cheap wickets given away.

Watsonians batted pretty reasonably but they gave chances throughout their innings and Dunfermline simply could not accept them.

They held one or two but this allowed 'Sonians to get away to post a total of 195 in the 50th over.

Knights made a bad start when Jamie Penman was needlessly run out but then Calum Coker went leg before and when Aza Sharif offered a catch it was swiftly taken.

Captain Jordan Davidson kept his head and mounted a good stand with Mushi Beg but when he went for 44 the innings drifted badly.

Beg batted well but the rest of the batting offered chances which were taken and the middle order man was left stranded with the team still 66 runs short.

Skipper Davidson was clearly very disappointed, telling Press Sport, "For the second week in a row dropped catches cost us too many runs in the field and this time we were unable to make up for it with the bat." Watsonians II (20) 195, (M Yellowlees 60, A Fleming 39, C Humphries 4 for 28).

Knights (7) 129, (J Davidson 44, A Sharif 24, M Beg 23 not out, A Fleming 3 for 10).

On Sunday Knights' seconds, bolstered by a couple of first-team players, went down by three wickets in the President's Memorial Trophy competition at McKane Park.

Aza Sharif batted superbly, hitting 52 with Nafeez Dewan striking a well-made 29 but too few of the other batsmen were able to make a decent contribution against Murrayfield DAFS seconds.

A total of 129 in their 40-over allotment was simply not enough and while Murrayfield lost wickets regularly they were still able to get home with three wickets to spare.

Knights II 129, (A Sharif 52, N Dewan 29, I Shiels 4 for 26, A Rehman 3 for 13).

Murrayfield DAFS II 131 for 7, (A Deshmukh 35, N Dewan 3 for 23, G Coles 2 for 14).
