DUNFERMLINE KNIGHTS demolished Drumpelier on an awkward wicket at Langloan on Saturday.

Sanjay Rakshit and captain Gowtham Rai opened at a cracking pace, taking the score to 54 after 10 overs before both were dismissed.

Alistair Gray and Vasu Reddy featured in a partnership of 119 and when Reddy departed Marshall Bunting, coupled with other sensible batting, enabled the Knights to total 241-6.

l Dunfermline Carnegie Cricket Club edged out local rivals Townhill in their East League Division Four derby clash at Pitreavie on Saturday.

In a game dominated by the bowlers, Carnegie got home by two wickets mainly thanks to Man of the Match Neil Harris.

On winning the toss, Carnegie captain David Mitchell asked Townhill to bat and was rewarded with an excellent bowling and fielding performance. Nine catches were taken by Carnegie to back up accurate bowling from the Ross brothers, Wauchop, Urolagin and captain Mitchell as Townhill fell to 66 all out.

In reply, Carnegie lost early wickets but the ship was steadied by the experienced Harris, who top-scored with 23 as wickets regularly fell around him. When Harris was dismissed it was left to Gavin Ross and Monty Urolagin to see Carnegie home.

Carnegie captain David Mitchell said afterwards, 'The bowling and fielding was of a really high standard but the batting is something we really need to improve on in the coming weeks.'

This weekend Carnegie have a tough test as they head to Inverleith to take on Stewarts Melville.
