DUNFERMLINE Knights Cricket Club have made an outstanding start to the season.
Their first XI are top of the SNCL Division 1 and are pushing for promotion to the Premier Division, the second XI have come back well after a slow start with three wins including a good win over the East League Division 4 leaders Clackmannan County, while the thirds have started strongly with five wins out of seven games played.
At the head of all this is the Knights" long-serving member and president Tom Gibson, who puts the key to the great start to the season as the side"s strong batting line-up, which he feels has 11 batsmen, something he described as 'quite incredible'.
'Most teams when they get to about seven or eight struggle.
'Our number eleven could bat three or four in any other team,' he told Press Sport.
The Knights aren"t just blessed with great overseas talent, however. They also have a number of very good young players at their disposal. Gibson had high praise for the third XI"s impressive young off-spinner Thomas Lucas, who at just 12, has already taken eight wickets this season. Jordan Davidson, the second XI"s Scotland under-15 player is a 'good prospect' with a future in the first team according to Gibson. The first XI can also boast two Scotland under-19 all-rounders in Safyaan Sharif and Matthew Bremner.
The Knights are running a cricket camp at McKane Park from 3rd-5th August including specialist coaching from Marshall Bunting and Alistair Gray. The cost is £25 for the three days.
