DUNFERMLINE Carnegie Cricket Club celebrated their centenary with a match against a star-studded Scotland XI on Sunday.

Scotland batted first in front of a crowd of nearly 200 and lost an early wicket when Gavin Ross bowled Routray for 1. A brilliant catch by Kevin Ross off his brother"s bowling dismissed Watsonians star Ryan Flanaghan for 11. This brought South Australian batsman Andy Delmont to the wicket and he made a classy 47 before being bowled by Monty Urolagin. At the other end, Farrell was playing some huge shots and he brought up his century in quick time. Carlton all-rounder Ross Lyons contributed a breezy 31 before being bowled by the impressive Ross, who was the stand out performer for Carnegie as he finished with 4-28 off eight overs in a Scotland total of 251-8 in 40 overs.

In reply, Carnegie lost two wickets in the first over, bowled by Scotland"s T20 World Cup star Gordon Drummond. At 0-2 things looked bleak for Carnegie but solid contributions from David Mitchell (21) and Ross (20) helped Carnegie to a respectable 68 all out. Saltires spinner Ross Lyons finished with 3-7 while Drummond had the impressive figures of two wickets for 0 from his one over.

Carnegie skipper Mitchell was quick to praise Scotland for fielding a team packed with international experience, saying, 'It was a great experience to be on the same field as talented players such as Delmont, Drummond and Lyons. Scotland played the game with a great attitude and really treated the large crowd to a great spectacle.'

Man of the Match went to Carnegie"s Gavin Ross.

The previous day, Carnegie recorded a fine win over Division Four league leaders Haddington at Pitreavie.

Haddington won the toss and elected to bat first, progressing to 116-1 in 30 overs. The introduction of Niall Walker removed the classy Hiley for 75 and changed the game.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals with Neil Harris the pick of the Carnegie bowlers, taking 3-33 off his 10 overs, leaving Haddington on 180 all out.

In reply, Carnegie lost Lindsay early but the innings was steadied by Lafferty and Honeyford, who put on 59 runs for the second wicket before Honeyford was caught for 19.

Lafferty and Ross took Carnegie to victory by five wickets with only two balls left. Lafferty had anchored the innings with a patient 73 not out.
