BAYSIDE FC scored a winner recently as they sealed a sponsorship deal with Dalgety Bay pub The Compass.

The Belhaven-owned bar and restaurant, which opened its doors on 7th August following the unexpected closure of the popular Clubhouse eatery in March, provided £1200 for the club’s amateur, under-19 and under-17 teams to buy new kit, tracksuits and other equipment as required.

Bayside coach Neil Aitchison said, “We were looking for sponsorship and we asked The Compass, and the manager Nick was more than happy to get involved especially as he’s a football man himself. It’s hard to get sponsorship at the moment because money’s tight and businesses are tightening their belts, so it’s really good. They’re even providing food for after the games for some of the teams as well.

“He gave us the money to get the new strips and we can use it how we see fit. We’re going to get tracksuit tops made as well as other equipment and I think that if the boys turn up for games in their tracksuits or polo shirts then it makes them look more professional. The money we’ve received will also free up money that’s in the pot for the whole club for the rest of the teams.

“The amateurs are at the top of the league at the moment after half of their league games so far, which is great as they finished second bottom last year. The under-19s are sixth but the Bayside ethos is that everybody gets a game and they enjoy it. The majority of the amateur guys have been there since they were 10 so they’ve grown up together and have a great team spirit.”
