THERE was a double dose of disappointment for West Fife junior football last night as Oakley United were all but relegated from the Premier League, while Kelty Hearts were beaten in the last four of the Fife and Lothians Cup.

After losing 4-1 at Dundee Violet on Saturday, Craig Cowan's Oakley had to beat both Dundonald Bluebell and Jeanfield Swifts to give themselves any chance of avoiding the drop.

But their survival chances lie in tatters as they crashed 6-0 to the promotion-chasing Bluebell last night at Blairwood Park.

A hat-trick from Scott Lawrie and strikes from Calum Young, Derek Wallace and Gregg Meikle did the damage for Oakley, who play their final match with the leaders Jeanfield next Wednesday.

With one game to play, Oakley could still finish level on points with fourth from bottom Armadale but their vastly inferior goal difference means that they will go down.

Meanwhile Kelty Hearts' hopes of ending the season with a trophy are over after they were beaten in the semi-finals of the Fife and Lothians Cup.

Thomas Courts' side, who lost their Super League crown to Bonnyrigg Rose, went down to Penicuik Athletic at Central Park thanks to Keith Lough's second half goal.

Courts had targeted lifting the trophy and to finish second in the league to end their campaign on a high but, after Lough's well-taken first time finish after being picked out with an incisive long pass, means it is Penicuik that will play Bonnyrigg in the final.

That defeat followed a league victory at Tayport on Saturday, while the third West Fife team in action, Rosyth, went down in a South Division derby at Lochgelly Albert.
