KELTY HEARTS boss Thomas Courts says he is "really excited" by the arrival of new signing Jordyn Sheerin.

Press Sport revealed last week that the New Central Park side were looking to tie up a deal for the 27-year-old, who netted an astonishing 42 goals for Musselburgh Athletic two seasons ago.

That earned him a move to full-time football with Livingston but this season joined Berwick Rangers, for whom he netted seven goals in 26 appearances.

Sheerin was the League Two club's second-top goalscorer but, after pursuing the player for almost three years, Courts was delighted to finally get his man.

He said: "He has a bit of pedigree at this level and I'm really excited by his signing. He has a presence up front, knows a few of the players and people can see that we're ambitious and thriving.

"After almost three years I'm thrilled to finally get Jordyn into the club. This gives the squad positive competition up top and gives us a boost going into the latter stages of the season. With Scott Dalziel going to miss a couple of months with an operation, I was keen to bring someone in and this is a coup for us."

Sheerin's goalscoring exploits in 2014-15 helped Musselburgh reach the Junior Cup final and, after scoring three goals in the two-leg semi-final win over Linlithgow Rose, was on the mark in the showpiece with Auchinleck Talbot with a spectacular strike.

A controversial penalty award however decided the game in the Ayrshire club's favour but Sheerin will have the chance to move towards another final when Kelty tackle Kilwinning Rangers in the last 16 on Saturday.

He said: "From initial talks it's been very clear how ambitious not only the gaffer is, but everyone involved at the club, and I share this ambition.

"I had a great feeling about the place as soon as I walked into the ground, which is second to none.

"Coming here I hope to help this already successful club to keep moving forward and I'm determined to play a part in that."
