West Fife derby in cup quarter-final

KELTY Hearts and Oakley United will go toe to toe at Blairwood Park in the quarter-finals of the Maloco Cup this Saturday seeking to end the season with some silverware.

Kelty came from behind to emerge victorious in a potentially tricky second round tie away to Kinnoull thanks to a sterling performance from second half substitute Craig Morrison.

Despite a Graeme Findlay opener after four minutes the Jambos were 2-1 down at half time and it took the intervention of Morrison to swing things back in their favour.

First he set up Tam McGeorge to head the equalizer then notched the winning goal himself with five minutes remaining.

Gaffer Stevie Leighton said, 'We had a hot and cold first hour then Craig Morrison came off the bench with half an hour to go and made the difference. We"ve got two quarters coming up, Oakley away then Dundee North End away the following Wednesday so the next five days will probably determine what kind of season we are going to have.

'It will be a very difficult game for us. We want to put some silverware on the board. We have beaten Kinnoull twice but any games against any Premier League teams have always been very hard games. They have gone through a transition with a change of players and we know they will be up for it playing against a Super League team.'

Oakley reached the quarter-final after running out comfortable 2-0 winners at Scone Thistle where second half goals from Colin Mullen and Peter Fyfe secured victory.

However, they will need to improve on their previous performance against Super League opposition after they crashed 4-1 at the hands of a superior Lochee United side to go out the Redwood Leisure Cup on Monday night.

Manager Stevie Kay said, 'It was a pretty comfortable win on Saturday for us but against Kelty it will be interesting to see how far we"ve come. It gives the boys a wee break from the league and we will be going all out to try and win this cup. Apart from Greg Sinclair who has ligament damage we should have pretty much our full 16 available.'

Rosyth Recreation"s finish to the season went from bad to worse after they lost 5-4 to managerless Crossgates Primrose in a cracking match.

Rosyth were looking to the cup for success after falling behind St. Andrews in their bid to win promotion from the Central League. They have scored eight goals in their last two games and managed to lose both after they were beaten 7-4 at Kirkcaldy YM in their previous game.

In Saturday"s only Central League match Steelend were 3-1 winners at bottom of the table Luncarty, a result that helped them leapfrog Newburgh into 10th place.

Saturday"s fixtures: Maloco Cup Quarter Final – Oakley United v Kelty Hearts , East Central Bukta Teamwear.com League – Rosyth Recreation v Lochore Welfare, Crossgates Primrose v Steelend Vics. Kick-offs 2.30pm.
