THE second round of the Scottish Motorcycle Racing Championship took part at Knockhill at the weekend.

All the racers took part in a reverse circuit weekend of racing and it was fast and furious from the start with more track records made and broken by each class. The Scottish Superbike Class had three track records made and broken over the two days with Roy Houston coming away with the final track record of 51.538 seconds.

The weekend gave all the spectators some breathtaking racing and there were a few surprises over the weekend, including from young Scottish racer Rory Skinner who brought his GP125 bike over the line for a podium position in the final Scottish Lightweight race of the weekend.

Kirkcaldy Kawasaki rider Roy Houston managed an impressive four wins out of five races in the Superbike Class with Clackmannan's Andrew Tasker also managing podium finishes in every race along with Donald MacFadyen from Inverness and Bruce Birnie from Montrose. The Scottish Superstock 600 race was dominated by East Lothian rider Paul McClung , who won all five of the class races, with Liam Shellcock from Oban and Douglas Cunningham from Airdrie sharing the podium most of the weekend with him. Paul said, “I am really pleased with the way this weekend has gone for me. There are a lot of fast racers in this class and to win all five races is amazing.” Rothienorman-based racer Patrick Forman, racing in the Pre-Injection class had what can only be described as an amazing weekend with five podium place finishes; four firsts and one third. He shared the podium over the weekend with Des Burns from Falkirk and Sean Davie from Wallyford.

The Scottish Lightweight class races had close battles all weekend, with racers Lewis Rollo from Haddington, Craig Shirlaw from Aberdeen and Jason Blacklock all competing to get a place on the podium.

The championship is now taking a short break before the next round on 21st/22nd June at Knockhill Race Circuit.
