KNOCKHILL Racing Circuit will welcome the Scottish Government's energy, enterprise and tourism minister tomorrow (Wednesday).

Fergus Ewing MSP will be conducting a fact-finding visit to the national motor sport centre between 10-11am.

Knockhill is the only full-time facility of its type in Scotland and a key sporting and tourism centre for Scotland as it generates significant revenues for the Scottish economy as well as exposure worldwide.

Mr Ewing will meet with Knockhill's managing director Jillian Shedden, and Stuart Gray, events and marketing director, and get a guided tour of the venue.

Mr Ewing said the visit was "an example of how Scotland’s visitor attractions are working to ensure that everyone receives a warm and satisfying welcome and highlights the positive impact on tourism that Knockhill Racing Circuit has on the economy in their local area".

He added, "During our second year of Homecoming we are extending a warm welcome to the world to join our celebrations.

"The Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup and MTV Europe Music Awards will also ensure the country takes centre stage in global terms, opening the door to thousands of visitors to the country.” Knockhill MD Jillian Shedden said, “We are looking forward to welcoming Mr Ewing as we have come a long way over the last 30 years, but the potential for development is varied and extensive at Knockhill over the next five to 10 years, both in the sporting and business uses of the venue and resultant benefit for both the local economy and Scotland as a whole”.
