‘Flying Finn’ Hannu Mikkola and co-driver Arne Hertz will be among the star names that will take to the track for the special two-day event that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Colin McRae’s world title win.

Dalgety Bay race ace and 2012 British Touring Car champion Gordon Shedden will also take part in his first rally, which will cover a distance of 30 miles over the two days, alongside McRae’s father Jimmy and brother Alister.

The action-packed weekend, supported by EventScotland and Beatsons’ Building Supplies, will include the display of up to 22 of McRae’s competition cars, camping and stunt shows from international stunt driver Terry Grant and other special exhibits, parades and a Saturday evening rally forum. Mikkola won the 1983 world title after achieving four wins and three second places with Hertz in the revolutionary Audi quattro, which will also be on display as part of demonstrations over the course of the weekend.

He said, “It’s always nice to get back behind the wheel of an Audi quattro rally car and never fails to bring back special memories for me. Scotland has always been a favourite place of mine to rally in the UK, and I have been fortunate enough to do really well there too. It’s also great to support this event and celebrate a fantastic achievement in British motorsports and remember what Colin accomplished in the sport.” The rally will include 10 stages, comprising of a modified route using the high speed tarmac race track along with a more twisting and challenging ‘off-track course’.

A junior category for drivers aged 14-17 will also feature on the bill, and tickets are available at www.knockhill.com, with pre-booking discounts available for all tickets purchased in advance.
