THE STARTING grid at Knockhill is normally associated with the roar of engines waiting to go but on Sunday it played host to a different kind of race – one down the aisle!

Stevie Goldie and his bride Cheryl, along with their 250 wedding guests, even had a 2000-strong audience for their special day as they got married on the track on the day of the Scottish Ford Live event.

The unique and special occasion went down a treat with the car-daft enthusiasts – Stevie is a regular at Knockhill, does track days and races his BMW too.

It wasn’t the first wedding to be hosted at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre but the two others were held indoors so last weekend marked a first as the ceremony was held on the track itself.

Coordinating the wedding was driver Rory Butcher, who is more used to racing at 200mph in his British GT Championship Aston Martin, but he proved up to the challenge and said, “We get a lot of requests for so many things, but a wedding on the grid is a first.

"We are so pleased to have hosted it and the feedback from the couple and all the wedding party has been fantastic too.

"Stevie is one of the most active drivers on track, so it was a pleasure to help them with their special day – truly memorable and unique too.”
