GORDON SHEDDEN"S final races on Sunday summed up a disappointing British Touring Cars Championship season for the Dalgety Bay driver.
Racing in the championship climax at Brands Hatch, Shedden looked certain for a podium position in the day"s first race until a technical problem dropped the Team Halfords driver down the field.
In a hard-fought race two, Shedden battled his way to a creditable ninth and also had to settle for ninth in the season"s final race.
The West Fifer finished seventh overall in the final drivers" standings with Team Halfords third in the teams championship.
'It was a season which I guess promised a lot but has not brought us enough really,' Shedden sighed this week.
'It"s been frustrating and disappointing. There have been a lot of highs but far too many lows.
'We had a lot of things happen that we could never have accounted for.
"Everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong and that"s been disappointing.
'I still finished in the top seven and was on the podium a couple of times but ultimately, the cards didn"t quite fall my way to have a decent championship run.'
Shedden identified his two victories during the season as high points, saying, 'To win in the early part of the season at Rockingham and then dedicate that to David Leslie, who passed away, was a really emotional and special weekend.
'But it was a typical rollercoaster season. The two punctures I had at Thruxton was probably the low point. That could have been a bagful of points which could have set me up for the rest of the year but instead it was the start of my bad luck.'
Shedden said he was 'dying' to have another crack at the touring cars title but said it was too early to say where his future lay.
'It"s all a bit early at the moment to be honest. It could be a long winter but we"ve just got to keep on working.'
