EIGHT-YEAR-OLD Carnegie swimmer Megan McGhee made it a hat-trick of gold medals at Saturday"s Tranent Xmas Gala at Prestonpans.

Megan struck gold in the girls" 8yrs/under 50 metres backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m freestyle.

Team mate Hamish Neil, competing in the boys" 9yrs age group, picked up four bronze medals in the 25m butterfly, 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley.

Ten-year-old Sarah Carstairs won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke while Gavin Ogilvie won a bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

    I am so proud of her. I truly hope that she will go on to compete in the 2016 Olympics. Hopefully I will be there to cheer her on if she does get that far.
