Carnegie swimmers among the medals at Grangemouth

DEVELOPMENT Swimmers from Carnegie Swimming Club won seven gold medals, three silver and one bronze at the Grangemouth JAGS meet on Saturday.

Individual performances that shone through over the weekend were 10-year-old Brooke Gillies, who picked up the Top Girl award with golds in the 50m breaststroke and freestyle.

Team mate Greig Reid (also 10) won the Top Boy award with a "Swam 2 Fast" award in the 50m butterfly, golds in the 50m freestyle and 100m individual medley and silver in the 50m backstroke.

Seven-year-old Lucy Ross, swimming in the 8 years category, picked up silver in the 25m butterfly and older sister, nine-year-old Sophie, a bronze in the 100m individual medley.

Heather Paul, nine, picked up bronze in the 50m backstroke.

Savannah Sweeney (11) won gold in the 50m butterfly, while 10-year-old Jordan McKilligan won gold in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 100m individual medley.

In the boys" 10/11 years 200m freestyle relay, Gavin Roderick, Greig Reid, Sol Sweeney and Jordan McKilligan won gold in a time of 2:33.39.

In the girls" 10/11 years 200m freestyle relay, Savannah Sweeney, Sarah Carstairs, Carrie McLennan and Brooke Gillies won silver in a time of 2:36.11.

In the girls" 8/9 years 100m freestyle relay, Sophie Ross, Tabitha Hill, Lucy Hallam and Heather Paul won bronze in a time of 1:21.81.
