EXPLORER Scouts from across Dunfermline District came together to hold a 24-hour camp at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

The youngsters were able to watch the Scottish Car Racing Championship practice rounds on Saturday before enjoying the full competition on Sunday.

As dusk fell on Saturday night the Explorers had an opportunity to get a unique perspective by walking the track and seeing for themselves how tight the hairpin bend is! A highlight for many was the presence of an Aston Martin V12 Vantage which roared around the track.

As Daniel Thompson of the 81st said, “Just watching the cars – it’s much better than on the TV!”. The Aston team also showed good humour after the race as they answered questions, mainly from inquisitive leaders!

The Explorers wish to say a big thank you to Jillian Shedden and the staff at Knockhill who couldn’t have been more welcoming.
