Kelty Hearts 3 Sauchie Juniors 0 KELTY HEARTS warmed up for tomorrow's derby clash with Hill of Beath Hawthorn by maintaining their 100 per cent winning start against Sauchie.

Thomas Courts' men remain at the top of the table after Brian Ritchie and a Stuart Cargill double saw off the second-bottom visitors, who rarely threatened the home goal.

The Central Park side however were left frustrated in a first half in which they dominated. Roger Duffin hit the crossbar, Neil McCabe saw a good chance blocked before Conrad Courts and Scott Lawrie saw efforts saved well by the visiting keeper as the score remained blank at half-time.

But five minutes after the break, Kelty made the breakthrough as Lawrie produced an excellent cross to pick out Ritchie who headed home. Just three minutes later, Cargill doubled the home side's lead by slotting home after finding himself in on goal after Kelty keeper Kyle Allison's kick-out before he added the third with 20 minutes remaining.

Kelty have already won half the number of Super League matches than they did last season and Courts said, "Once we're getting our nose in front in games, we're going on to swamp sides and I think our fitness is better than a lot of teams. We're really ruthless just now and the scores we've had look more emphatic than what they are, although I felt we've done enough to merit winning the games.

"It's a big derby on Saturday and historically the games between Hill of Beath and Kelty have been close. Being top of the league gives us something to fight for and we'll go there with confidence. We respect Hill of Beath - they had a good result against Linlithgow Rose - and we know their strengths but it's a nice turnaround for us from last season. We're in good form, have momentum and we'll go there looking to win."

Dalkeith Thistle 2 Oakley United 1 OAKLEY boss James Watt felt his side deserved better after they suffered their third defeat in four games at Dalkeith on Saturday.

The Blairwood Park men matched the hosts - who lost out to Kelty Hearts in last season's Super League play-off - for long spells but couldn't find an equaliser after finding themselves 2-1 down at half-time.

Craig Paterson's 15th minute penalty fired Oakley ahead but a soft spot-kick in the home side's favour saw Stephen Pusledzki level matters before David Morris netted the winner.

The visitors, without their main striker Alan McDonough, pushed to no avail in the second half and Watt said, "I'm obviously disappointed with the result but on the balance of play we deserved something. I don't think we deserved to win, but I don't think we deserved to lose it. We gave away a couple of sloppy goals which I was disappointed to lose after we took the lead, but that's the harsh reality of this league. We need to dust ourselves down and keep going.

"We're not too far away and it's hard to be over-critical of the boys because they're working so hard. They gave me everything but we just came up a little bit short. But there's always another game just around the corner and we need to pick ourselves up for Dundee Violet at home on Saturday."

West Calder United 1 Rosyth 1 LEE RICHARDSON admitted Rosyth's draw at West Calder felt like a defeat after a late equaliser denied them maximum points.

Rec's 100 per cent league record looked to be on course to continue when a good move on the left saw Sean Johnstone cross for Jason Penman at the back post to slot them ahead in the first half.

The home side, who had lined up in a 4-5-1 formation, reverted to 4-4-2 after half-time and worked their back. Rosyth's failure to add a second goal while on top came back to haunt them as with 10 minutes to go, Tony Brown grabbed a point for West Calder. Rec then saw top scorer Tam Hampson sent off for picking up two yellow cards for dissent.

Richardson, who confirmed John McDairmid will return to face Pumpherston this weekend, said, "It felt like a defeat because another goal would've killed them off. We had one or two half chances in the second half so it was a fair result in the end. But after we scored I could only see us winning so it was disappointing, but last season that was a game that we would've lost. We're still unbeaten, it's been a great start and we're looking forward to Pumpherston at home on Saturday. They've just been relegated so they are a big fish and everyone wants to beat them, so we'll see how it goes."

Crossgates Primrose 1 Harthill Royal 1 CROSSGATES restored some of their battered pride after last week's thrashing at Haddington by claiming their second point of the season against Harthill Royal.

David McNeely's men were on the end of an 8-0 hiding by the league leaders but their fortunes improved during the first half at Humbug Park as they took the lead thanks to an own goal.

But home hopes of a first win in their South Division campaign were ended as Harthill netted an equaliser midway through the second half but a much-improved performance will send Primrose into Saturday's clash with Tranent Juniors in good heart.
