Rosyth 2 Crossgates Primrose 0 ROSYTH took the honours in Saturday's South Division West Fife derby with a two-goal win over 10-man Crossgates Primrose (pictured).

Recent signing Kevin Goodwin opened the scoring after 20 minutes before John Duffy was red-carded for Primrose for foul and abusive language following a challenge on a Rosyth player.

Midway through the second half, Michael McMillan wrapped up Rosyth's victory to keep the Recreation Park club third in the table and level on points with second-top Dunbar United, while Crossgates are third-bottom with five points from their opening seven games.

Both managers agreed that Duffy's red card was harsh, with Crossgates boss David McNeely believing that big decisions are not going his team's way.

He commented, "I'm very disappointed as I felt that we deserved something from the game but it seems that these decisions are going against us. I don't want to see boys sent off and it's never a red card - if Lee's saying it's not a red card then that says everything. It's very frustrating because the boys are trying hard but never got a break.

"At 1-0 we had two or three chances but didn't take them, whereas Rosyth had one chance in the first half and scored it. We kept trying but they tired in the second half because we were down to 10 men. They are a young team so we need to try and keep them up but they're doing a lot more right than wrong and we'll see what happens at Dunbar on Saturday. The winners will play Camelon or Hill of Beath so it is a chance to play a Super League team."

Rosyth boss Richardson was pleased to return to winning ways after two successive defeats and said, "I didn't think it was a sending off and I think after the ref had done it he was thinking what have I done? It seemed to galvanise them a wee bit and they came out well in the second half but we made a lot of chances. In the first they had two early chances and hit the post but I felt we played the better football. It was always going to be blood and guts and I'm more than happy after the week before, which the defence took on board.

"We are looking forward to the Junior Cup game up in Aberdeen. We've had them watched a couple of times and they are quite a stuffy team and the park is quite boggy. If we can go up there and play as we can then hopefully we'll have enough to get through but it's all about attitude."

Richardson confirmed that he has completed the signing of Lochgelly Albert left back Ryan O'Connor and that the club are on the lookout for a new physio. Anyone interested should contact Lee on 07752512277.

Broxburn Athletic 3 Kelty Hearts 3 KELTY HEARTS boss Thomas Courts has his eye on a Junior Cup run after their 100 per cent league record was ended on Broxburn's artificial pitch on Saturday.

Stephen Manson's late equaliser rescued a point for the visitors in a game which saw them fight back to level three times and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Broxburn drew first blood with James Donaldson opening the scoring during the first half but Mark Morrison soon equalised to ensure the teams went into the half-time break all-square.

Although the Central Park side created the better chances throughout the game, Broxburn went ahead for the second time in the second half before Stuart Cargill's 17th goal of the season from the penalty spot equalised.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, the West Lothian team snatched a third goal before Manson's late show left Kelty top of the league ahead of this weekend's Junior Cup tie with Glentanar.

Courts told Press Sport, "I think we can have no complaints over the result because we were never in front in the game. The players are disappointed that the 100 per cent record has gone but satisfied that we are still unbeaten. The resilience, chracter and determination of the squad was there for all to see and although I couldn't grumble, we hit the post, had two one-on-ones and a few chances. I have to give my assistant, Stevie Kay, a lot of credit because the subs made by him changed the game. The players are probably more dejected than us as a management team but we have to give the opposition a bit of respect.

"The Junior Cup is still huge and, as a manager, I'd love to get to the quarter-finals and beyond. I believe that in one of the runs Kelty had to the final they played Glentanar which is nice if you believe in omens! We won't be taking anybody lightly though - we lost to Lochgelly Albert last year and deservedly so - and we've had them watched. But we're going to go up there to get into the next round."

Oakley United 0 Arniston Rangers 1 JAMES WATT said he was not too disheartened by Oakley United's performance despite losing out to Arniston Rangers in the Premier League.

The Blairwood Park men slipped to their fourth defeat of the season thanks to Lumbert Kateleza's 75th-minute strike but boss Watt believes his team will play worse and win.

Ahead of this weekend's Junior Cup tie with Jeanfield Swifts, Watt said, "The result was disappointing but there was nothing in the game; it could've gone either way. I can't fault the effort the boys put in and I felt that we acquitted ourselves well against an experienced team at this level. We could've played better but I thought we were unlucky to lose. The manner in which we kept at it and created chances until late on was good and we just need to take it on the chin and focus on the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

"There are things that we need to work on but the week before, we played similarly and the result went well for us. It was just one of those days but we've got a wee break from the league now and we want to go as far as we can in the Junior Cup. We're looking forward to it and the further you go, the more people will come and watch you and that's the plan. We'll dust ourselves down and try to win the game on Saturday."

Saturday's fixtures (kick-offs 2.30pm): Barr Scottish Junior Cup first round - Glentanar v Kelty Hearts, Oakley United v Jeanfield Swifts, Parkvale v Rosyth. DFT Fife and Lothians Cup second round - Dunbar United v Crossgates Primrose.
