WEST FIFE youngsters have been getting advice on developing positive behaviour through sport from two top British sportsmen.

Seven S2 and S3 pupils at Inverkeithing High School who were selected to take part in the Living For Sport Programme were visited on Monday by Commonwealth gymnast Craig Heeps and former Scotland rugby international Gregor Townsend.

Hazel Williamson, the Scottish national development officer for Youth Sport Trust, who organised the programme, commented, 'It was a brilliant day.

"Craig gave a presentation on where he came from and they asked about the difficulties he overcame.'

Craig is now a mentor for youngsters taking part in the Living For Sport Programme and Gregor is involved with another charitable organisation, the Scottish Institute of Sport Foundation.

The children taking part in the programme had been identified by Inverkeithing PE teacher Ross Morrison as those who had athletic talent but needed a focus.

Hazel explained, 'It is the PE teachers who identify the pupils. They are good kids but they need a bit of an incentive.'

She continued, 'Some of them said they were interested in football and a couple were interested in rugby.'
