THE Dunfermline Knights" round 10 match against bottom-placed Edinburgh Cricket Club on Saturday was an excellent opportunity to gain further momentum in the push for promotion with only seven matches remaining.

However, the weather had different ideas and the game was cancelled 20 overs in with Edinburgh at a precarious position of 4-89.

Luckily, every other game in the league was abandoned resulting in no changes at the top of the ladder with the Knights retaining their slim two point buffer.

This Saturday sees the Knights travel to SMRH with fingers crossed that the weather stays away for a chance to play some good cricket.

The Knights" seconds arrived at Broomhall hoping to come out on top against their fellow West Fifers for the second time this season.

However, the weather brought proceedings to a close in what would have become an interesting battle. The game was abandoned with the score at 3-42 off 13 overs with both Jordan Davidson and Chris Humphries picking up wickets.

The weather also put paid to the Knights" third team whose game was cancelled without even a ball being bowled.

On Sunday the Knights compete in the semi-finals of the Caledonia section of the new national Twenty-20 Cup after their victory over Freuchie in the McKane gloom in the last round.

Dunfermline take on Stoneywood Dyce, who they beat in the league last week, at Strathmore Cricket Club, Forfar, at 1pm. The winners will then play Forfarshire in the final at 4.30pm.
