Fife Lions go hunting for revenge

ARCH rivals Edinburgh Eagles stand in the way of the Fife Lions and another crack at the premier event in rugby league, the Challenge Cup.

Revenge is in the Rosyth side"s thoughts as the capital club have taken Lions league title and triumphed in their only clash this season.

Add in the fact that the Fifers lost at home to Edinburgh in last year"s Scottish Grand Final and the stage is set for a great clash on Saturday 2nd August.

Head coach Jimmy Glover conceded, 'They"re favourites this year as they"ve won the league and the only time we played them they beat us convincingly.

'But we reckon we can turn around the deficit as we"ve got all our players available, which we didn"t have when we faced them before, so we"re confident we can turn them over.'

A neutral venue for the clash is still to be confirmed and the winners of the Scottish Grand Final would then be just 80 minutes from a spot in the Challenge Cup.

If the Lions manage to clip the Eagles wings, they would then face the regional champions of Yorkshire on Saturday 9th August for a place in the first round of the Challenge Cup.

Jimmy added, 'It"s the biggest event in rugby league and we"ve played in it twice before.

'No Scottish team has ever gone beyond the first round but there"s a first time for everything.'

Fife Lions reached the Scottish final with a 28-20 away win over Carluke Tigers in the semis.
