DUNFERMLINE Knights maintained their promotion challenge with a convincing win over Dumfries at McKane Park.
The Knights totalled 199 thanks principally to club professional Colin Ingram who notched 116 – his second consecutive century.
In difficult, swinging conditions Ingram produced a masterful display. No other batsman scored above 20.
Dumfries lost early wickets and were unable to take the game to the Knights. Fine bowling from Safyann Sharif, Steve Fryer, Sumi Eadala and Ingram ensured a comfortable win.
Stoneywood Dyce remain at the top of Division 2 after a convincing win over SMRH.
Dunfermline 199, (C Ingram 116). Dumfries 136, (S Eadala 3-26, C Ingram 3-33, S Fryer 2-19 & S Sharif 2-19).
The Knights" second XI moved to the top of East League Division 5 with a fine win over Falkland at Falkland.
Batting first, the Fifers were indebted to Mushy Beg (95) and Chris Humphries (41) in scoring 229. Falkland were bowled out for 132. Chris Humphries was man of the match, also capturing five wickets.
The Knights reached the Fife Cup final in defeating Freuchie last week. Freuchie totalled 132 but this was easily overtaken by the Knights for the loss of only two wickets.
This weekend the Knights host Falkland at McKane Park on Saturday. On Sunday the Knights travel to Poloc"s ground, Shawholm, located in Pollock Country Park in Glasgow, to take part in the inaugural Murgitroyd National Twenty/20 Competition.
The Knights have an early start and do battle in the first semi-final of the day at 10am against Clydesdale CC. The second semi-final is between Dumfries and Carlton which will take place at 1pm with the final at 4pm.
Dunfermline Knights coaches Colin Ingram, Matt Jones and Lindsay Ferguson, who attended local primary schools during April, May and June, are holding a two-day summer camp at McKane Park on Monday and Tuesday from 10am-3pm with an hour break for lunch – those attending are asked to bring their own packed lunch.
The coaching is geared towards those aged eight and over (boys and girls) who are either new players or those looking to improve their game and will be a mixture of skills training and games. The cost is £10 per day. All levels of ability are welcome and anyone interested should contact Lindsay Ferguson on 839697 or email lindsayferguson39@btinternet.co.uk. Registration is 9.45am and parental consent forms will be completed at that time.
