Dunfermline cyclist Charline Joiner scooped three medals at the British championships as she gears up for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

The 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medallist took silver again in the 3000 metre pursuit and points race as well as picking up bronze in the keirin at Manchester Velodrome.

In the final of the 3000m individual pursuit, Joiner went into an early lead, but by the mid-way point world junior road champion Lucy Garner had pulled her back.

Joiner fought all the way to the line, never really cracking, but Garner took the title with a time of 3.52.414, over two and a half seconds clear of the West Fifer.

In the points race Joiner dominated the early points scoring, crossing the line first in five of the 12 sprints during the race.

However, Corinne Hall was the only rider to claim the 20 bonus points for lapping the field, going away mid race and holding off the field for over 20 laps, before finally making contact and taking the lead.

Joiner tried to fight back but Hall finished the stronger, leaving Charline to take silver, while she battled through the melee to claim bronze in the women's keirin.

Joiner said, "I went down wanting a medal in the scratch race and didn't medal in that but medalled in almost all the other events I took part in. That was a bit of a surprise and showed my form was good. This is all in the lead up to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games as qualification starts in January." Joiner was in good form coming into the British Championships after success at Scottish level in early September. At the Scottish National Championship at Meadowbank she became 2012 Scottish Pursuit Champion, before clinching the Scottish Scratch Champion at Dundee outdoors velodrome the next day.

Joiner added, "I spent six weeks over the summer in America and it really brought me on. The Mary Leishman Foundation sponsored me to go so I owe them a big thank you.

"I was flying when I came back after getting consistent, structured training where it was not too rainy or windy to go out and I could do whatever the training said. With the Glasgow velodrome now about to open hopefully that level of training can continue."
