KIERAN STEER achieved one of his goals for 2014 by winning his first Scottish BC4 singles title in Stirling.

The young Disability Sport Fife player from Crossgates had to defeat all his main Scottish and British rivals to lift his first national title and did so by playing his best boccia.

The championships are organised by Scottish Disability Sport.

Steer defeated GB international Peter McGuire 4-1 in the semi-final and in the final he won 4-3 against Jamie McCowan following a double tie break.

His main focus now is on the Paralympic Games in Brazil in 2016 and, following selection for the GB Boccia squad for Rio, he has set his heart on making the team for the World Championships in Beijing.
