FIFE FLYERS have announced that Reber Fever is once again set to descend upon Fife Ice Arena, as fan favourite Matt Reber returns for a second season.

The 6’1 USA-born centre joined the Flyers at the start of the 2013/14 season from ECHL side Stockton Thunder. Reber has also played for the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL and played with Dartmouth College in the NCAA. Last season Reber averaged over a point a game, with 66pts (18 goals + 48 assists) from 60 games.

He said, “I’m thrilled to return to Fife for a second season. The Flyers organization and the town welcomed me with open arms last year and the success we had down the stretch was some of the most fun I’ve had in my career. I’m hopeful that we can improve on that from the get go, and compete for silverware. I’m looking forward to being back on the ice in front of the home crowd.” Flyers associate coach Danny Stewart commented, “It’s good to get Reebs back again for another year. His speed is as good as it gets at this level and he creates a lot of space for everyone else when he is using his strengths and skating skills the way that he can.

“He’s got a good hockey head and being a smart play maker combined with that speed makes him a dynamic player and I think we will see more from him this season as he has a better understanding of the league and what to expect.” Head coach Todd Dutiaume added, “Reebs with his speed alone can change a game at any point. I feel that last year he learnt what it was to become a more rounded player and he became someone we could rely on to give us a solid performance every weekend. It was an easy decision to have Matt back in a Flyers jersey this season.” Fife Flyers will play Coventry Blaze in their opening home game of the 2014/15 season on Saturday 6th September at Fife Ice Arena. Pre-Season friendlies will be confirmed in due course and tickets will go on sale for the opening games in mid-August.
