FIFE Flyers have completed the signing of Chris Auger for the 2014/15 season.

The 26-year-old 5’10 170lbs Canadian centre joins the Flyers from the Fort Wayne Komets, where he has played for the past three seasons. Auger played in 68 games for the Komets last year, finishing the season with 55 pts (29 goals & 26 assists). Auger was also selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

During the 2011/12 season Auger played alongside Flyers Bobby Chaumont, helping the Komets win the Championship, and was also selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

Auger said, “I am thrilled to be joining Fife. This will be my first experience playing in Europe and I’m excited for this chapter of my career. Fife seems like a great fit for me and I can’t wait to get started and help bring a championship to the organization and fans!“ Flyers Associate Coach Danny Stewart said, “This is an impact signing for us. Chris was a top 5 goal scorer in the ECHL last season and will provide us with another scoring threat up the middle.

“His ability to score goals and play in all situations immediately makes us a better team and we are excited to see what he is capable of doing with the amount of opportunity and ice time he will have in Fife.” Flyers Head Coach Todd Dutiaume added, “We looked at our middle and wanted to find not only an offensively productive individual but also an all-round player who has been on a championship winning side in the past. I feel we’ve found that in Chris and I look forward to seeing him mix in with our returning wingers.” Meanwhile, Flyers will play Coventry Blaze in their opening home game of the 2014/15 season on Saturday 6th September at Fife Ice Arena. Pre-Season friendlies will be confirmed in due course and are expected to be played on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st August. Tickets will go on sale for the opening games in mid-August.
