The Pars got their much-needed first league win of the season and the fans could have found a new goal hero in Chigozie Ugwu.

He hit two goals and was unlucky to have another chalked off as the Pars eventually coasted to an easy win.

Airdrie turned up in shocking pink strips and continued their shocking start to the season with no points and no goals after three matches. The visitors made a bright start but defensive frailties were their downfall.

In the first minute a low drive from Liam Watt was touched around the post by Ryan Scully. From the corner, the keeper dived to save at the feet of James Lister after a goalmouth scramble.

In six minutes Airdrie centre-half Ben Richards-Everton was just off target with a header and two minutes later Scully again rescued Pars when Lister was sent clear but his shot was blocked.

Pars gradually took control and went in front after 23 minutes. Moffat won possession in midfield and the ball was fed to Faissal El Bakhtaoui on the right. His centre was initially missed by Ugwu but Andy Geggan knocked it back to him and the big striker scored off the underside of the bar from close range.

There was a hint of offside about the goal but when Ugwu had the ball in the net again a minute later this time it was chalked off. Ross Millen crossed from the right, Gozie headed home but the flag was up.

A slack pass by Lewis Martin let in Lister for a great chance to equalise but his low shot was again saved by Scully.

The Pars went two up in 39 minutes when a cross from El Bakhtaoui was headed off the bar by Geggan. The Airdrie defence were slow to clear and Moffat pounced to shoot high into the net.

In the second half, Ryan Williamson, who had replaced the injured Ross Drummond, repeated threatened with runs down the right but was unable to find a telling final pass.

Ross had replaced El Bakhtaoui and squandered a great chance in 79 minutes when set up by a clever back-flick from Ugwu, dragging his shot just wide.

A minute later a fine solo effort from Ugwu made sure of the points. He picked up the ball on the left, beat two defenders and finished coolly tucking it past the keeper.
