DUNFERMLINE cyclist Charline Joiner is back in the saddle as she competes in the British National Track Cycling Championships that began today (Wednesday).

The 26-year-old Commonwealth Games rider will go for glory at the annual event in Manchester's Velodrome in three events, with the first taking place in the women's team pursuit.

She will compete for Pearl Izumi alongside Glasgow bronze medalist Katie Archibald, Ciara Horne, Dame Sarah Storey, Anna Turvey and Gabriella Shaw before turning her attention to individual events.

On Saturday she will compete in the women's scratch race in a strong field including Archibald and fellow Commonwealth Games stars Amy Roberts and Laura Trott, before she races in the women's points race during Sunday's final day of competition.

As well as Joiner, there is further West Fife interest in today's men's team pursuit race, with Silas Goldsworthy, Kyle Gordon, Alan Thomson and Peter Ettles riding for Inverkeithing-based Sandy Wallace Cycles.
