AN EVENT held by Fife Flyers in aid of Breast Cancer Care raised a whopping £7000 last Friday.

The club's 'rink pink' initiative saw players playing in limited edition Breast Cancer Care jerseys and socks, while fans donned pink wigs, hats, clothing and even dying their hair at the match with Coventry Blaze.

£5300 of the cash donated was raised by a jersey auction after the match - which Blaze won 2-1 - with the remainder coming from a raffle and donations.

Steven McLean of Fife Flyers said, "The rink was indeed pink for one night only and we would like to say thanks to all of our volunteers and staff who worked tirelessly in the run up to the event and on the night.

"Many thanks also to all of our sponsors who donated gifts to the raffle- their generosity is greatly appreciated.

"Everyone who took part, donated or contributed on the night should be extremely proud of themselves and the Fife Flyers would like to thank you for your generosity and your participation at the event, you have donated a great amount of money to an extremely worthwhile cause."

Hannah Weddell from Breast Cancer Care added, “We can’t thank the Fife Flyers and their fans enough for their kind generosity and donations. This is the most fun event I have ever attended since joining the Breast Cancer Care team, we are just overwhelmed and can’t thank everyone enough. It was a fantastic event, which was well run and extremely good fun. Thank you to all who donated.”
