ABERDOUR Golf Club scored a par-fect accolade by winning a prestigious prize at the inaugural Scottish Golf Tourism Awards.

The West Fife links course was presented with the SGU (Scottish Golf Union) and SLGA (Scottish Ladies’ Golfing Association) ‘Commitment to Customer Focus’ prize at the glittering bash in the Old Course Hotel, St Andrews, on Friday 7th November.

Dave Erskine, who has just completed his term as club captain, said, “This is an outstanding award for the club and one that we should feel proud to have won, and hopefully we can build on this success in the following years. All credit to the staff and council members on this achievement.” Aberdour was one of four clubs nominated for the award and the win recognised the work the club has done over recent years on aspects such as club governance, business plan, customer training and passing a ‘mystery shopper’ test.

Mr Erskine and club profgessional David Gemmell accepted the award.

Organised in conjunction with VisitScotland, Bunkered magazine, the PGA in Scotland and the Scottish Golf Union, the event was the culmination of a summer-long campaign that attracted more than 21,000 votes in 14 categories.

The award for the par-67 Aberdour course comes after it was recognised by Bunkered as being one of Scotland’s top golfing experiences earlier this year, coming fourth behind Machrihanish Dunes, on the Mull of Kintyre, Kingsbarns, co-host of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and four-times Open Championship host Turnberry.
