THE ANNUAL challenge match between Dunfermline and Boreland curling clubs resulted in a convincing and surprising win for Boreland after they took the trophy by 22 shots to 17 at the newly-refurbished Kinross rink on Wednesday 26th November.

Three matches were played resulting in two wins for Boreland (Bill Linton 6-4 Colin Low, Steve Jamieson 9-5 Dave Thomson) and one for Dunfermline (Stuart Barr 8-7 Ian Baker). This challenge match has taken place for the past 20 years and the all-time record now reads Dunfermline 15-5 Boreland.

While Dunfermline were founded in 1738 and boast a membership of over 60, Boreland are one of the youngest and smallest clubs in the area having been established in 1979 and with 24 playing members.

The Boreland club are currently enjoying their 35th anniversary celebrations and they now have something else to celebrate after winning this keenly-fought contest.
